NoMachine Linux Terminal Server Products

Deliver high-performance virtual Linux desktops

NoMachine Terminal Server is a family of self-hosted products for Linux environments that delivers a streamlined, efficient, and cost-effective Linux VDI solution. It is the perfect answer for those looking for a self-hosted solution capable of creating hundreds of Linux desktops that is easy to manage and secure. Whether you are managing a small team of developers or a global enterprise, NoMachine Terminal Server, the number one in its category for more than two decades, delivers seamless, low-latency access to virtual Linux desktops and applications from any device or browser. Your desktop remains active even when disconnected, devices shared on the server follow you wherever you go and speed is spectacular even over the most modest network link.

Centralized Linux Desktops at Any Scale

NoMachine Terminal Server products let you host hundreds, even thousands, of independent virtual desktops on a single physical or virtual machine. By consolidating Linux desktops, you eliminate per-user OS sprawl, slashing management costs and allowing hardware resources to be shared dynamically for maximum efficiency. Whether on legacy hardware or high-spec cloud instances, NoMachine provides a consistent, high-performance Linux workspace without the complexity of traditional VDI. As your team expands, scale seamlessly across the full product range, starting with Workstation, ideal for small teams and professionals, then moving to Small Business Terminal Server when you need more virtual desktops while keeping your server footprint minimal, or jumping straight to Terminal Server for larger deployments. When demand grows further, scale horizontally by adding nodes to Enterprise Terminal Server to load-balance sessions across multiple hosts. For mission-critical environments, Enterprise Terminal Server Cluster adds high availability, ensuring constant access even in the event of a server failure. Where large projects often call for multiple Terminal Server products tailored to different teams, departments, or use cases, you can simplify access by deploying a Cloud Server gateway on a dedicated host and connecting each Terminal Server product to it, giving users a single, unified entry point. Connections can be made directly over IP or published through NoMachine Network, so users can reach their Linux desktops from any network. All Terminal Server products include full NoMachine Network support.

High-Performance Access on Any Device

NoMachine turns any device into a powerful workstation, from legacy PCs and Raspberry Pi to the latest iOS and Android mobile platforms. Users can use the free NoMachine Enterprise Client, a lightweight, high-performance app available for all major operating systems, to connect to their Linux desktops. For clientless access, the NoMachine Web Player delivers full desktop environments directly to any modern browser with no plugins required. This makes it effortless for users to get up and running instantly, whether they are in the office, working remotely, or connecting from a shared or unfamiliar device. In today's BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) era, this flexibility is a significant advantage. Employees and guests can securely access corporate applications and desktops from their own hardware, without compromising the security or integrity of the organization's infrastructure. IT teams benefit too, with centralized management and control that keeps sensitive data where it belongs: on the server.

Built for the Most Demanding Environments

NoMachine Terminal Server publishes any Linux desktop or application to a global workforce while keeping sensitive assets under total corporate control. This is critical for industries like chipset design, aerospace, and big data analysis, where specialized applications and massive datasets must remain secure within the data center. Administrators can fully lock down user profiles and enforce internal data protection policies, ensuring your intellectual property stays protected while your team enjoys fast, reliable access from any location. To further fortify your environment, NoMachine integrates seamlessly with major identity providers like Okta and Entra ID, supporting Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) across your entire virtual fleet. Security alone, however, is only half the equation. By leveraging GPU-accelerated rendering and proprietary NX display technology, global teams get fluid, real-time access to complex 3D graphics, medical imaging, and massive datasets, all rendered with pixel-perfect accuracy. Deep integration with VirtualGL and OpenGL ensures that graphic-intensive workflows are rendered with pixel-perfect accuracy, while advanced compression algorithms automatically adapt to low-bandwidth or high-latency networks. The result is a seamless, lag-free workflow that keeps your team focused on innovation, not their connection speed. Trusted by leading engineering and research organizations, NoMachine powers the teams driving tomorrow’s innovations, from climate modeling and clean energy to automotive design and medical breakthroughs.

Enterprise Features for All Your Linux

Web-based remote access

As all the NoMachine Enterprise products, the Terminal Server products all support Web sessions, VPN connections and, of course, full NoMachine Network connectivity. Web sessions make it possible to connect to any session by simply using a Web browser.

Remote terminal connections

Perform administrative tasks through secure remote terminals without requiring full desktop access. With NoMachine's built-in remote shell server, there's no SSH required, just connect and run your scripts remotely while users work uninterrupted on their own desktops.

VPN for security and privacy

With all of the Terminal Server products you can create a secure virtual tunnel using NoMachine's built-in VPN. With a NoMachine VPN connection, all data traveling between the NoMachine client and the Internet is encrypted and redirected through the remote NoMachine server, so that you can use your business network infrastructure as a single-access-point to the Internet.

Enterprise Authentication and SSO

NoMachine integrates seamlessly with your enterprise identity systems, including Active Directory, Kerberos and PAM-based authentication. From version 10, single sign-on support for Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, Keycloak, and Google Identity lets users authenticate with their existing corporate single sign-on credentials, no client-side setup or key copying needed.

Full Network support

You can connect by specifying an IP address or host name, or leverage NoMachine Network to give users access to any machine, even corporate machines behind any firewall. Just add your machines to Network and give your users the Machine Ids of the computers they need.

Integrated server administration tool

As all the NoMachine Enterprise products, the Terminal Server offers a full-featured administration interface, by which you can configure all the server settings, even from remote. Administer any of your NoMachine servers, by just a point-and-click wherever you are, via any NoMachine Player.

Two-factor authentication

NoMachine’s 2FA provides additional protection. Use it to protect your NoMachine logins, but also to approve incoming Network or over IP connections to your machines. Push notifications are sent to your mobile device so that you can approve or deny any request to connect.

Enterprise port-forwarding

Port forwarding on NoMachine Terminal Server securely tunnels traffic between local and remote ports over an encrypted connection. This allows server- hosted services to be accessed as if they were running locally on the client machine, even in locked-down enterprise environments.

Access to files, drives, and devices

Browse remote files and drives as if they were local, with seamless file transfer, drag and drop, and copy and paste in both directions. Redirect USB devices and peripherals, printers, scanners, smart cards, input devices, and security dongles and print effortlessly across local and remote systems. Everything you need feels close at hand, no matter where it's physically running.

CAD/CAM

Compared to all the other NoMachine remote desktop and desktop sharing products, the Terminal Server products are more aimed a the server based computing, where Unix and the X-Windows System traditionally give their best, as for example, in CAD/CAM. Give engineers and automotive designers robust, powerful and seamless access to their favorite design applications located in the remote data center.

Imaging

Let technicians work efficiently on the entire video or animation production process, from creative concepts to editing thanks to NoMachine's NX display encoding. Optimized acceleration of screen updates, and multimedia streaming in real time guarantees a superior rendering experience over any network.

Statistical analysis

Research teams located worldwide can unite to perform efficient data visualization and high performance analysis. NoMachine can handle huge amounts of data with speed to prevent the delay of any research. Projects that can run for days or weeks are easily monitored and updated from remote.

Engineering

Architects and urban planners can execute all their plans, designs and spatial analysis on the road as efficiently as if they were working at the office. Whether it's a transportation, land or energy infrastructure project, NoMachine's Terminal Server Products guarantee that civil engineers can work from anywhere whatever the application.
