NoMachine server cannot detect Wayland local display on Arch Linux

With the following setup:

Operative System:    Arch Linux
Desktop Environment: Gnome-shell 3.38
Display Manager:     GDM 3.38
Wayland 1.18
NoMachine 6.12.3

sharing the screen is not possbile. After connection, the NoMachine client gets the message: "Cannot detect any display running".

Also reproduced on Fedora 33 and Ubuntu

Display Manager: GDM-3.38.1-1.fc33
Desktop Environment: Gnome-shell-3.3.1-2.fc33
